Tae's Fanfic final draft

THE PURPOSE OF THE MOVIE INCEPTION

[The movie ends in some theatre..]

[Clap clap clap…]

[Audience gossiping and commenting about the movie …]

“It was great!!!”
“Leonardo DiCaprio is hot!!!!”
“Come on kids. We’re having Mc Donald’s for dinner.”

[That night, a group of four students gathered to discuss the movie, ‘inception’..]

“I don’t get it. It’s a complicated movie” Michelle with curly red hair said, rubbing her eyes.

“I think it’s just an ordinary happy ending, with the most natural flow. And the spinning top seemed to be shaking right before the ending credit. It’s one of those silly tricks that movie directors make, hahaha” said fat Brian, gorging himself with salt & vinegar flavoured chips.

“But that’s what makes inception more interesting. You can think of different endings with the last scene.” Steven replied, adjusting his big round glasses, looking intelligent.

“Like what?” Michelle asked, full of curiosity.

“Think of it this way, Cobb was dreaming since he met Yosuf in the cellar. When Cobb saw people dreaming with the new drug that Yusuf designed, he decided to test it himself. The point is, after he woke up Cobb tried to activate his totem precipitously but he couldn’t because of Saito’s interruption! You guys remember that scene?” Steven paused to have a sip of coke.

Gulp..

[Everyone desperately waiting for Steven to continue..]

“So what I am trying to say is, after that scene, there was not a single scene that showed Cobb’s totem activate. That’s why I believe Cobb is having a sweet, sweet dream about his success in the basement.”

“Wow.” Everyone remarked at once.

“What if Mal was right? What if Mal was in the real world and Cobb was struggling in the limbo?” shy Rebecca quietly suggested, diffident as always.

“And any reasons for your opinion?” Steven asked.

“I… I just thought that… I…” Rebecca replied in a faltering voice. Her face was blushing because of shyness.

“Let me explain it instead.” Brain holding a slice of pepperoni pizza on his hand stepped in. But Rebecca felt relieved.

“There is no evidence that Cobb escaped with Saito from the limbo. The movie just showed Saito holding the gun, not himself nor Cobb. Besides, at the end when the top was still spinning, Cobb didn’t care about his totem. I think he was satisfied to meet his children whether it is in a limbo or the real world. He is a good father you see, Hahahaha.” Brain took a bite of his pizza.

“But that’s too sad. If he is still in the limbo, he will never get to meet his children in the real world.”
Michelle said, feeling sympathy towards Cobb.

“Don’t take it so seriously Michelle, it’s only a movie, Hahahahahaha” Brain laughed.

“All right, since Michelle likes happy endings, I’ll tell you guys a new theory I thought just now.” Steven said.

[Michelle’s eyes wide open. Expecting a fantastic happy ending story from Steven]

“The whole movie was just a dream of Cobb’s. Cobb was just a normal business man who was on the returning flight to meet his children. He fell asleep in the first class seat and dreamed about the whole inception thing. But the truth is, there is no inception, no dream machine, no stealing someone’s mind that exists in the real world. How’s that sound? Huh?” Steven folded his arms, proud of himself.

“Nihilistic!!!!” yelled everyone.

“I wonder what director Christopher’s intentions were…” Rebecca whispered quietly so that no one could listen…

[Meanwhile, in some five star hotel Christopher, the director of the movie ‘inception’ and Leonardo DiCaprio, the hero of his movie were having a conversation.]

[The main theme song of the movie ‘inception’, 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien' by Edith Piaf coming out from the audio speaker…]

Non Je Ne Regrette Rien Non, Rien De Rien…
Ni Le Bien Qu`on M`a Fait, Ni Le Mal…
Tout Ca M`est Bien Egal…
Non, Rien De Rien, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien…

“Here’s a toast.” Dicaprio said, raising his glass of wine.

“To inception.” Christopher took a sip of wine and started listening to the song.

“The audience will be confused with the top spinning by the hair’s breadth in the ending scene. Think about it. No matter what conclusion the audience arrive at, they will still be suspicious about the incomplete ending. No logical reasoning or explanation will be perfect, and it will never be so. I’ve planted a ‘seed of creeping doubts’ in their head. A chaos will be created between the borderline of dream and reality just like Mal falling in to the limbo. Therefore, my intention of planting inception to the audience was successful...” Christopher said.

“Congratulations Mr Nolan, I think you accomplished your purpose.” Dicaprio smiled.

Mary's Fan Fiction: Final Draft

Lion King

"Grrrrrr," Simba pulls at his father's ear when he didn't budge. “Oh, c'mon dad, wake up!"

Mufasa flexes his long body and stretches out his large paws. “Hmm, what is it this time Simba?"

"Its Wednesday today dad, and that means ... 'free time'!"

"Oh! oh, right? ... Hmm, well take Nala with you, okay? Zazu isn’t feeling well so he won’t be accompanying you”
.

“Yes Father!” Simba piped, not paying much attention.

“Now run along and be careful. I want you home by sunset, you hear me son? I don't want to come out looking for you, again.” Mufasa stressed the last words to show how serious he was.
Simba takes off before his father could finish “Okaaayyyyy dad… See you soon! ”

Simba goes in search for his lioness friend Nala, and finds her at home look bored and rather sad.

“Hey Nala, how’s it going? Want to go hunting?”

“Ahhhh, not today Simba, last time we went hunting you promised to be back before sunset. Mom grounded me so now I have to stay home and help out with the others”.

“Oh c’mon, you’ve been cleaning out that den for four days now. I promise we’ll be back before we know it. PLEASE!”

“Hmpf... Alright, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to break the rules once in a while, however,  you have a lot of explaining to do when mother finds out I’m gone”.

“Yay! I knew you’d say that. You won't regret it this time” Simba laughs.

Simba and Nala run off towards the east, a route they’ve never taken before. They are having so much fun that they don’t how far they have gone. Meanwhile, a distance ahead the Wild Animal Authorities are searching for an animal that attacked a nearby camp in the late hours of the night. Curiously, the pair sneaks up to one of the tents; hiding behind a large object they hear familiar voices. Up close they spot Scars three hyenas in cages, looking rather sad and scared. Banzai, Shenzi and Ed who had been lurking around the area earlier in the day were caught by the authorities and were then presumed to be the main suspects of the attack. Simba and Nala were so caught up in their thoughts that they don't realize they’ve been discovered until someone starts yelling. From all directions men ran towards their hiding place.

“Uh-oh, Simba? I think they're running towards us.” Nala said nervously. Simba takes a step back and does a quick scan of the area, he spots a way out that leads to the jungle. “Okay, on my count to three I want you to quickly follow me, are you ready?”

Nala nods her head furiously, “I’m ready”.

“Okay, one…two… … …”

Simba and Nala didn’t wait for the third count; instead, scrambling from the scene they take refuge in the jungle. Silence surrounds the area as footsteps run right pass them. Moments later not a single noise can be heard apart from the deep gasping they were trying to keep hushed. Simba has a bad feeling about the area so he shoves Nala behind him and stand guard to protect her.

“Ahh Sim-baaa…” The soft sound of his name sent shivers down his back. Scar walks away from his hiding place to stand next to Simba.

“Uncle Scar?” Keeping his voice low Simba describes what he saw, “Uncle Scar, you’ve got to help. We saw humans in the east and they have your friends defenceless and caged. If you don’t hurry they are going to load them into a big four legged monster thing” –meaning truck

“What? Wh…where? How is this possible? This better not be one of your silly games Simba, I’ve got much useful things to do right now”.

“No, I’m not lying, over there”, Simba points in the direction. Scar hesitates for a few seconds and stares into empty space, "you two stay low, and keep out of sight. I'm going to help my friends, they need me." And with that he sped off. The duo watches him leave until he is out of sight.

It's getting dark and Nala is urging Simba to leave. “C’mon Simba, let’s get out of here, our parents must be worried"

Simba and Nala leave the area and take the long way home, staying well clear off the roads. Behind them a loud rumbling noise shakes the ground. “Oh no, not again...Hide!”

As fast as he can, Simba pushes Nala down the bank and hides behind the bushes. Waiting quietly he watches the vehicles drive pass. Simba looks up to find Benzai the hyena caged up, staring at him from the back of the truck.

“Simba! Simba, is that you? Get us out of here!”

Simba was now really frightened; the hyenas might give away their hiding place. The trucks didn’t stop but just continued on their way. Simba was confused, why the humans ignoring Benzai. Can they hear him? Do they not understand him?
Inside the truck, the authorities have placed a mouth guard over the hyenas’ snout. Seems like he trying to say something but the only thing the humans could hear is long disturbing wails and yowls.

The last truck slowly drove pass with humans, possibly searching for other animals. Inside one of the cages lay a slumped figure, with shoulders slouched and head slightly bent. Simba watches as the figure painfully moves its body so it is faces the road, the fear and distress in his eyes bared all. Scar, his uncle has been captured and his fate now in the hands of the humans.
"No way, it can’t be..."

Simba slid down the bank to where Nala is waiting. “Let’s leave Nala! Father needs to know about this.” Sniffling Simba turns around and leaves first dragging his feet as he goes; behind him Nala falls deep into thought. Were those tears glistening in his eyes?

Janine's Final draft

It was just another hot summer’s day in the Pickle’s backyard, where the whole extended family and their friends were once again gathered; the adults were lounging about and chatting while the children played.

The only one who wasn’t enjoying herself was Angelica; she was just sitting over by the adults playing with her doll ‘Cynthia’ when she overheard her Aunt Didi and Chas Finster talking about Chuckie’s recent growth spurt. They had decided that instead of giving all his outgrown clothes and toys away they could hand them down so that Tommy could get some use out of them.
“Hmmm” she mused deciding that she could have some fun with this. So abandoning her doll she went off in search of the babies.

She found them over by the tree, playing with Spike, the dog, who was running round and round under the sprinkler in an attempt to cool down. Tommy, Phil and Lil were taking it in turns riding on his back. Meanwhile, Chuckie, who was always the cautious one, was sitting out of the way playing with his ball.

“Hey, dumb babies!” she yelled to get their attention. “I just heard aunt Didi sayin’ she did’t want Tommy no more, and ‘stead wants a baby juuust like Chuckie!”

“That’s not true!” Tommy yelled back after finishing his turn with Spike.
“Yea!” Phil and Lil backed him up. “His mommy and daddy love him too much”
“How would you know? I just heard ‘em! They even said they gunna give Tommy some of Chuckie’s things sos he will look like ‘him aaaaand hasta play like him!” she retorted.
“Don’t listen to her guys” Chuckie butted in. “She’s always making up lies!”
To this, the babies decided to ignore her and went back to playing, while Angelica stormed back to her doll.

The rest of the day went quickly and smoothly with no more mention of Angelica’s ploy. However, the next day when Chas brought Chuckie round to play, he also brought with him a handful of Chuckie’s old things.
As Chuckie was being placed in the play pen with the others he yelled out “Tommy!! Tommy!! I think Angelica was right…”
“What’s wrong, Chuckie? What is Angelica right about?” Tommy calmly asked.

However, Chuckie didn’t get a chance to reply before Didi came in and took Tommy with the pile of Chuckie’s things.
“Oh, no!” Phil and Lil exclaimed at the same time. “Is it really true?” They asked of Chuckie, realizing what was happening.  “I dunno” he stated. “Alls I know is that my daddy brought heaps of my things with us today… he said that they’re going to be Tommy’s now… That I need to get more.”
“Oh,” the twins gasped “this is not good.”

Meanwhile, Didi had taken Tommy to the changing table in his room. “Here we go Tommy.” “Now you will be a big boy just like Chuckie,” gushed Didi proudly, while fitting one of the shirts over his head and then following with a pair of Chuckie’s outgrown shorts.

“Oh, no, maybe Angelica was right!" thought Tommy. “It sounds like mommy really does want me to be more like Chuckie…” This hypothesis seemed more plausible when Didi returned him back to his friends and handed over some of the toys Chas had dropped off with the clothes.

“Tommy!!” Lil, Phil and Chuckie all exclaimed as he was placed back in with them.
“What happened!?” “Why are you wearing Chuckie’s clothes?” “Was Angelica right?” they asked all at once.
“I dunno, guys,” Tommy glumly replied “maybe everything Angelica said was right… Maybe she does want me to be more like Chuckie.”
Chuckie, Phil and Lil all gathered around him offering him words of sympathy.
"How would I be like you Chuckie?" Tommy asked.
“Don’t worry Tommy you can learn,” Lil commented.
“Yea, I can teach you!” Chuckie offered.
“Yea… alls you would needa do is copy what he does!” Phil chimed in.
“Ok then, I guess it won’t be too hard. What do we start with?” Tommy asked.

So the rest of that day was spent teaching Tommy how to be like Chuckie. They played all his favorite games and Tommy was shown how Chuckie uses each toy. Eventually it was time for all the others to leave and Tommy could try out all he had learnt. But he soon realized he wasn’t getting any more (or less) attention than usual by being Chuckie. He didn’t even think they noticed a difference.

Pretty soon it was Tommy’s bedtime but instead of his mom dressing him in Chuckie’s old clothes like he thought would happen, she dressed him in his favorite ‘Reptar’ pajamas. She even gave him his favorite soft toy to sleep with. “That’s strange” he thought to himself, “she could have dressed me like Chuckie but she didn’t… and I get Reptar.”

The next morning was even stranger; his mommy didn’t dress him like Chuckie again like the day before. Nothing happened, even though he was dressed like himself. So he decided to play normally today and see if anything changed. But nothing did. They others came; they played, had the usual adventures until the others left again and still nothing happened. “Maybe mommy decided she didn’t want me to be Chuckie after all!” Tommy decided happily.

Mary's Reviews

In a bid to get back at Simba for his exclusion from Pride rock, Scar searches for ways to defeat his nephew, Simba. I thought at first this story was going to portray Scar as a good lion, but like the original movie he is still the bad guy. This piece is writing looks good it doesn't sound like there would be a different outcome than that of the original movie. But it doesn’t stop you from wanting to read more.

The time line for this story is a bit confusing and there were a lot of quotes. I didn’t get the ending part; it just didn’t feel like it was quite finished. It would have been better if the author dragged it on a bit longer. It has a good script but leaving you confused makes it a bit boring.

Nala is a nice but shy lioness. She avoids the idea of making friends fearing that she would be rejected. Simba has been brought up well by his parents and when other lionesses started to gang up on Nala he was there by her side and befriends her. I like this story. It has a very good sequel and the pace looked like it wasn't rushed. It seems like that the author was really into writing this story. I was also very descriptive and expressive.

This this story was from Simba's point of view on his childhood and what went down at the stampede when his father died. The narrator sounded quite sad while telling this story. It’s alright; they could have done better without the replication of the original movie.

So what if Pumbaa and Timon found Simba much earlier than they would have in the movie? This piece of writing was very easy to read, not one bit was boring. The script was well thought over and I enjoyed every bit. The authors efforts of trying to match the original characters humour to their story were a success. Every quote I had read I was able to visualize and match it with the original character.
